It is great to see the two new benches – paid for by Heart of Pitsea and installed by Basildon Council – now in place at The Legacy Park on Chalvedon field behind Basildon Upper Academies.
The set of benches add a finishing touch to the Legacy Park area, which includes the popular children’s play area and outdoor gym, also funded by Heart of Pitsea and installed by Basildon Council in 2019.
We very much hope that this new addition to the park will provide our community with a useful outdoor meeting space and allow parents, grandparents, and carers to take a seat while they watch their children play.
Basildon Council have also now completed the new Legacy Park Nature Zone. It includes a habitat panel and bee post, plus a stumpery log pile and pond, which will encourage birds, bees, invertebrates, small mammals and amphibians to make it their home and give a boost our local biodiversity.
The council have also installed a new path with drainage to help to combat flooding, by diverting rainwater into a newly made pond. The Nature Zone also includes a new bench and rubbish bins.
